Description:

Rise + Rhyme is a weekly morning storytelling and performance series for children ages 5 and under with the goals of teaching children to engage with their community, learn to love performing and become rising artivists!

Today's featured artist is: Flutist Fabulosa!

Join Flutist Fabulosa in a morning of joyful movement to music! We will kindle love and excitement of classical music to kids through dancing, singing, stories, and games! Flutist Fabulosa will introduce favorite classical orchestral music and folk music through the lens of colors and the silver flute in an interactive show involving learning about colors and telling left from right, dancing, singing, learning about rhythm, and storytelling.

Corinne Mona (aka Flutist Fabulosa) is a flutist with roots in Maryland and all over the world. After many years as a flute teacher for all ages, she is excited to start engaging with more kids as a performer with Rise + Rhyme. She has a bachelor's and master's degrees in music performance, and has played on a Norwegian mountaintop, in a Japanese high school, and in her own backyard. Corinne currently performs frequently as a soloist and with a Celtic trio, flute ensembles, and has appeared in orchestra pits and various chamber music settings throughout the Washington D.C. area. Her favorite children's recording is Peter and the Wolf performed by David Bowie and the Philadelphia Orchestra (check it out!). She also studies seals in her spare time.
