The Middle East Caf_ and Jewish Voice for Peace-DC Metro Present Dr. Jeff Halper -   Exporting the Occupation: Israel and the Global Pacification Industry

Dr. Jeff Halper, on a tour of the U.S. from Israel, will focus on the production, distribution and use of Israel?s high-tech weapons systems and ?counterinsurgency? weaponry and tactics as a profitable by-product of the Occupation that has spread world wide.

Dr. Halper is the co-founder and Director of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions. In 2006, Dr. Halper was nominated by the American Friends Service Committee for the Nobel Peace Prize with Palestinian intellectual and activist, Ghassan Andoni.

Middle East Caf_ is a Busboys and Poets program that offers an on-going series of events designed to bring together Arabs, Jews, and those interested in working toward a resolution to the conflict in the Middle East. The focus is on encouraging individuals from various backgrounds to share food and conversation. Founded by Anas Shallal, Ari Roth and Mimi Conway.
