Please join Busboys and Poets as we welcome local author Helen Mondloch to Shirlington to discuss her play American Breeze: A Whirlwind Theatrical Tour of American Literature.
From the author: My talk will capture the flavor and substance of American Breeze, a lively six-act tour of our nation’s literary heritage from colonial times to the present. I’ll present my background, the inspiration for writing the play, and my target audience, which includes students and devotees of American literature as well as the casual reader—anyone compelled by the march of history, the rich voices of our past, and a yearning to explore what Ralph Waldo Emerson called the “connection of events.” I’ll go on to provide breezy glimpses into each era, highlighting luminaries like Mark Twain, Langston Hughes, and Maya Angelou. I’ll examine the play’s themes, including the interplay between history and literature, and the powerful role that stories have played in shaping and sustaining the American spirit across the ages.
This event is co-sponsored by Richer Resources Publications, an independent company based in Arlington. RRP is “dedicated to the creation of high quality books, art and other media intended to enrich the lives of individuals of all ages.”
Books will be available before and after the event. Please contact books@busboysandpoets.com with questions.
