Death of Kenneth Coleman: Is Racism in Emergency Wards a Myth or Reality
Come join us at Busboys and Poets for a thought-provoking discussion on the topic of racism in hospital emergency wards. Is it a myth or a harsh reality?
On February 13 this year Kenneth Coleman's would have turned 34. But the young man from the Capitol Hill area in South East died at the George Washington Univeristy Hospital in Foggy Bottom exactly two months before his 34th birthday on December 13, 2024.
Coleman was a firefighter / EMT. We went to GW Hospital the morning of Dec 13, 2024.
The family complains the medical staff was nasty, unprofessional and exhibited poor bedside manner and just downright difficult to deal with (lack of communication).
"Kenny insisted something is wrong, something is wrong I can't breathe, listen to me!! Listen to me!!! They all stood back and refused to help Kenny. We begged but they refused to help him and called the officers on the victim's family," the mother alleges.
Kenny reached the ER at 10 am and two hours later he expired.
Main Speakers:
Terry Matthews, the victim's mother
