Charity Blackwell is an award-winning spoken word artist, poet, and educator known for her dynamic performances and captivating storytelling. With a passion for using her voice to inspire change, Charity creates thought-provoking and powerful works that resonate deeply with audiences across diverse backgrounds. She is a Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) practitioner, spoken word artist, host, emcee, and poetry specialist who has spent several years contributing to the arts scene in DC and across national platforms. She is a Trinity University graduate, where she received her B.A and M.A, for Communications. She also received her certificate for Executive Leadership for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from Georgetown University. She is the Chief Culture and Arts and sports nonprofit DC SCORES and the D.O.P.E (Director of Poetry Events) at the well-renowned DC arts cultural hub, Busboys and Poets. Since her early college days Throughout her career, Charity has graced numerous stages, including major festivals, corporate events, and educational institutions. Her performances have been described as electrifying and impactful, earning her a reputation as a leading voice in the spoken word community. Charity’s work has been featured on various media platforms, showcasing her ability to connect with audiences both in person and online. Charity’s natural stage presence and charm have led her to many hosting opportunities, including events such as the Poetry SLAMS Poetry OUT LOUD National competition, Busboys and Poets, and many more. She has performed her original work on national international networks such as BBC News, TEDxTysons, National Basketball Association, Women’s National Basketball Association, Major League Soccer Network, The Lincoln Theater, The Kennedy Center, The Hirshhorn Museum, Dock 5, and numerous stages across Washington D.C. and the east coast.

For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices, and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.
$5.00 + Tax and fees online. $8.00 (tax and fees included) at the door. Wristbands are available for purchase online at midnight and in the restaurant starting at 10:00 AM. No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.
Seating is available on a first come, first seated basis. No saved or reserved seats are allowed. Failure to check in within 30 minutes of advertised start time may result in forfeiture of seats. Sorry, no refunds.
