An ocean portal transports two anxious college students back to the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill where they befriend their youthful professor, confront crippling personal and societal problems, and help resolve a mysterious murder 50 years later.
EARTH JUMPED BACK is a historical, time-bending novel based on events in Santa Barbara, CA, that occurred during the same period of generational upheaval as the Manson murders. This book is an entertaining, probing peek into the recent past that will make you think differently about today.
Philip Reari is joining us on the Busboys stage to share how his work as a climate reporter influenced this novel and more about how his book came to life. Copies of the book will be available for purchase during and after the event, and Reari will be signing following the program.
This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of EARTH JUMPED BACK will be available for purchase before and after the event. Please note that this event is in person and will not be livestreamed.
We ask that guests RSVP in order to receive direct updates about the event from Busboys and Poets Books
