Join the Washington Association of Black Journalists for a documentary screening of Vice News Presents: When Black Women Go Missing. The film follows the harrowing stories of three women whose sisters went missing during different phases of their tragic journeys. All three women went missing in various parts of the country, and yet all of their families share similar stories: police did not take their concerns seriously when they reported their loved ones missing, leaving them to do their own investigations and searches.
Vice News explores the many factors that contribute to this crisis including police inaction and lack of media attention as well as exposing the scary realities that link missing women and girls of color to the sex trafficking industry. Vice also features activists and state legislators in Minnesota behind the country's first statewide office dedicated to missing and murdered African American women and girls.
The documentary is hosted by Emmy-winning correspondent Alexis Johnson and is now streaming on Tubi.
