Jennifer Amo is a storyteller, comedian, actor and writer. She is a graduate of American University with a literature degree. It was in that space and that she learned the importance of having an inclusive narrative and the destructive trend when one is not present. During her 10 year stint in the military, she did a variety jobs but ended with photojournalism. In this field, she learned the intricacies in telling an individual story with the nuance and expertise needed to truly embody an individual’s perspective. Currently, she is a Jill of trade and trying to master all. She uses many mediums such as standup, writing and podcasts to chronicle the story of being a black woman in America. Her foray into standup started in 2016 and has currently ramped up to include the creation of a web series premiering in 2020. Her podcast, Black Adulting: Navigating the fine print, which she co-hosts with Subria Lapps aids in her mission to highlight and help underrepresented minorities. Finally, she strives every day to battle socioeconomic poverty and disenfranchisement that occurs at the intersection of class and racism.
