Description:

Why so serious?! If you are like us, you have found it hard to find things to laugh about. Working to change the world is grueling and daunting work, but the pursuit of happiness is what we are fighting for! So we are making time to LAUGH! Busboys and Poets is pleased to introduce COMEDY NIGHT in Takoma

Come out and get your ribs tickled, massage your funny bone, slap a knee or two. Because LAUGHTER is an act of resistance!

Produced by Allan Sidley

About the Comedians:

Host - Scott Hall: Scott is a local DC comedian & podcaster with a passion for making people laugh. A frequent host at the Tysons Comedy Cellar showcases, Scott’s laid back and conversational style always make for a fun show. In his spare time he plays with his old dog and posts pictures of him on social media for attention.

Sofia Javed: Sofia Javed can make at least one person laugh. She honed her skills on unsuspecting co-workers and metro riders for an undisclosed amount of time before hitting the stage as a comedian last year. She delivers tightly-worded, thought-provoking jokes around the DC-area and has also performed in Seattle, Chicago, and New York. Sofia’s comedy is inspired by her life as a woman of color in America and her career as a cubicle bureaucrat. She enjoys steak.

Al Williams: Born and raised in Cleveland, Oh. Al Williams is a NY comic that got his start in Washington D.C. where he performed regularly at various local hotspots including The Bier Baron Tavern, Big Hunt, and Tysons Comedy Cellar. Al nowlives in New York City and is active in the New York City comedy scene, running weekly shows in Brooklyn and Harlem, while also touring across the East Coast. He's been featured at festivals such as Burbank, Cape Fear, and Whiskey Bear. Al's sharp, honest writing and energetic delivery are not to be missed.

Liz Barlow: Liz Barlow is a comic/ writer from Virginia Beach. She's been seen on VA area funny Bones and Zanies. If she's not being funny, she's probably tutoring at a trap house.

Martin Phillips: Martin is a comedian around the DC area. Since being named Funniest College Student in DC he hasn’t stopped performing! He’s performed at esteemed clubs like the Improv and Funny Bone. He hosts a weekly comedy show during happy hour at Saint Ex on Thursdays at 6. He has a podcast called Comic’s Corner available where everywhere podcasts are found. Be sure to check Martin out around town!
