Description:

Brazilian democracy is more vulnerable than it has been in decades. Leaders of NGOs, the LGBT community, unions, landless workers and feminists are at risk. Brazil's incoming administration has pledged to undermine environmental protections and open indigenous land to mining and agribusiness. Come hear Theresa Williamson, executive director of the Rio-based NGO Catalytic Communities, speak about what is happening and how people in the United States can help defend democracy and vulnerable citizens in Brazil. This event is a fundraiser for Catalytic Communities so we will be passing the hat. We will also have live Brazilian music, featuring the samba and forró of Pablo Regis https://www.facebook.com/PabloRegisMusic/
