Description:

Why so serious?! If you are like us, you have found it hard to find things to laugh about. Working to change the world is grueling and daunting work, but the pursuit of happiness is what we are fighting for! So we are making time to LAUGH! Busboys and Poets is pleased to introduce COMEDY NIGHT in Takoma

Come out on October 2nd and get your ribs tickled, massage your funny bone, slap a knee or two. Because LAUGHTER is an act of resistance!

Produced by Allan Sidley:

Comedian, producer, and stay-at-home Son, Allan helped raise his single Mother on the mean streets of Vienna, VA. She's still a single Mother...in case whoever is reading this is interested in dating an older Jewish lady.

He recently featured at the DC Drafthouse, and was the opening act at the Laugh Index Festival (DC). Under his company Sidley Standup, he produces stand-up shows in the DMV.

About the Comedians:

Scott Seiss(HOST): Scott Seiss is a Baltimore-based comedy writer and performer. Scott has performed stand-up throughout the East Coast at venues such as Magooby's Joke House, Broadway Comedy Club, and the D.C. Drafthouse, and, notably, has opened for comics Josh Wolf, Roy Wood Jr. and Bo Burnham. In 2017, he was named Broken Diamond Comedy's Best New DMV Comedian and he was a finalist in the 2018 Laughing Devil Cup Comedy Competition in NYC. He is a member of The Charm City Comedy Project house improv troupe Banana Phone, and his writing has been featured on WatchMojo, Robot Butt, Funny or Die, and The Rich Eisen Show. He also prefers unfrosted Pop-Tarts. You can find more of his work at ScottSeiss.com

Keith Correy: Known for being a kid with a shy attitude from Washington DC, Keith Correy started Stand Up comedy at the age of 16, merely to prove something of himself. While lying to his single mother about working a normal job every night, his quiet but weird demeanor gave him the opportunity to observe his surroundings and present them on stage every night. Keith Correy's sense of humor is a deep abrupt weird aspect of his life, surroundings and even issues of today. His truth in every joke brings light and appeal to smiling faces to stages and venues around the country.

Brittany Carney: Brittany is a standup comic based in DC. She appears regularly at the DC Improv Comedy Club, Drafthouse Comedy Theater, and with Underground Comedy DC. In 2018 she returned to the Kennedy Center District of Comedy Festival.

Jeff Hysen: A husband, father and attorney who decided midway through life to stand up and share his observations, Jeff has become a favorite in the Washington, DC area and has performed in New York at The Comic Strip and the Gotham Comedy Club. He has made several television appearances, including a starring role on RLTV's "Second Act" and was seen in a print ad for GEICO."

Shelley Kim: Hailing from suburban Southern California, Shelley Kim is a DC-based stand-up comedian, satirist, producer, designer and huge dork. Shelley’s fostered her love for stand-up comedy in college while remaining ignorant of any party scene. She can be seen performing and hosting all around the DMV area, sharing her insight as a savvy-yet-clueless minority female in the 21st century. Most recently, she co-produced the Underground Comedy Fest 2018, a DC festival with over 60 comedians and national headliners in conjunction with Underground Comedy (named “DC’s Laugh Leader” by Washington Post). She also produces her own experimental shows F*ckboys and Poets and My First Five.

Fernando Madrigal: Born in Dominican Republic, Fernando Madrigal came to Maryland at age 4. He mixes his immigrant experience as an Afro-Latino and takes his comedy everywhere from politics to dating, trap music to classic cinema, reality TV to historical events. He has hosted at Magooby's Joke House and DC Drafthouse; opening for national touring comedians like Sean Donnelly and Jordan Rock.

Seating is first come first served. Full menu & bar will be available throughout the event.
