Description:

Celebrate International Jazz Day as we close out Jazz Appreciation Month with a tribute to America's Jazz Ambassadors.  Join us for live music with GWU King James and the Serfs of Swing and a bit of jazz history. Bring family and friends. Take time to appreciate the power of jazz to promote peace, dialogue and respect.  Sponsored by the American Museum of Peace (AMP).

This event is free and open to all!

The Concert Program includes:

  • GWU jazz ensemble, King James and the Serfs of Swing,
  • Dr. Curtis Sandberg, Meridian International Center's Senior Vice President for Arts and Cultural Programs, and the Curator for their powerful Jazz Ambassadors Exhibit speaking on the healing role jazz plays in a world of conflicting ideologies,
  • Members of the Rufus Harley family on their father's work as an unofficial ambassador of peace.
  • Highlights from Dave and Iola Brubeck musical, "The Real Ambassadors."
