A.C.T.O.R. (A Continuing Talk On Race)

Truly conceived out of the mind of the community, A. C. T. O. R. provides the opportunity for people to come together and speak openly and honestly about issues of race. The intent is that each person walks away from the discussion feeling something?challenged, uncomfortable, enlightened, refreshed or reassured. Each month will offer up a new topic, with Busboys and Poets sponsoring a facilitator.

"Focus-in! Cinema for a Conscious Community"

Busboys and Poets is proud to present "Focus-In! Cinema for a Conscious Community", an in-house film series devoted to screening important films by local, national, and international filmmakers. Each segment offers a focus dedicated to social justice, peace, and community value. "Focus-In!" is a monthly series that features a "Film of the Month" in which the film is screened a total of 3 times throughout the month; once each at our 3 stores.

Peace Cafe

The Peace Cafe is a program which offers an on-going series of events designed to bring together Arabs, Jews, and those interested in working toward a resolution to the conflict in the Middle East. The focus is on encouraging individuals from various backgrounds to share food and conversation. Founded by Anas Shallal, Ari Roth and Mimi Conway.

SONIC Fermentation

A Live Music Experience brought to you by Busboys and Poets and Magic Hat Brewing Company. Enjoy some Magic Hat brew for only $4 during the show! $10 Cover (Cash only. Tickets sold at the door). SONIC Fermentation takes place on the third Thursday of every month at our Shirlington location.
