Young Reader’s Circle with Anike Robinson
Takoma | Nicolás Guillén Room | October 22, 2017 | 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Please join Busboys and Poets Books as we welcome Anike Robinson of "Books to Brushes" to our Young Readers Circle.

This month, we will do a participatory reading activity based on the book How Night Came from the Sea, by Mary-Joan Gerson. After our circle activity, students will create an original work of art and given step-by-step instructions to release their inner artist. There will also be board games available during drying time.

"A Brazilian story with African roots, this book tells how an ancient African sea goddess brought the gift of night to the land of daylight. This story evokes the beauty, rather than the terror, of the night, and is also about finding peace and hope in a new land."

Books will be available for purchase before and after the event. This event is suitable for children ages 7-12 and is co-sponsored by Africa Access. To ensure a space in the program, please reserve your ticket here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/young-readers-circle-tickets-38636694393.
