A Busboys and Poetry Event hosted this week by Imani Cezanne

Born and raised in San Diego, California, Imani Cezanne is a highly acclaimed writer, performer, workshop facilitator, community organizer and poetry slam coach. Rooted in her experiences as a young, Black, educated woman, Imani Cezanne’s work digs deep into the silenced themes of race, gender, sexuality and privilege in order to become a catalyst for social justice and change. Cezanne’s work has been featured on esteemed websites such as Upworthy, Button Poetry, For Harriet, The Huffington Post and All Def Digital, Russell Simmons’ most recent Spoken Word YouTube channel.

For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices, and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.
