Wednesday Night Open Mic Hosted by Mary Bowman
5th & K | Cullen Room | December 20, 2017 | 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

A Busboys and Poetry Event hosted this week by Mary Bowman

"When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid” This quote by Audre Lorde is one that Mary Bowman embodies as she shares her personal story with the World. Performing for over 5 years, Mary has graced stages all over the East Coast. In 2012 she had the honor of performing at the International Conference on AIDS as well as the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, DC. With the recent release of her first recorded project, LOVE B.O.A.T.S. (Based On A True Story) Mary is taking her artistry to new heights using her roots in music and her singing talents to continue telling her story.

For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices, and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.

$5 Cover. On the day of the event, tickets can be purchased online here starting at midnight and in the restaurant starting at 10:00 AM (cash only). No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Tickets will be sold at the door if available. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.

Seating is available on a first come, first seated basis. No saved or reserved seats are allowed. Failure to check in within 30 minutes of advertised start time may result in forfeiture of seats.
