Join us for a reading in conjunction with the Todas Las Voces mural panels and artist Francisco Letelier now on display at Busboys and Poets/Brookland.

Writer and literary activist, Ethelbert Miller joins with poets from Split This Rock and the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) to affirm a common legacy at the intersection of human rights and activism.

Through the Letelier–Moffitt Human Rights award, the Institute for Policy Studies honors the legacy Orlando Letelier and Ronni Karpen who lost their lives in a 1976 bombing ordered by Former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. For forty years the prestigious award has recognized efforts by those who dedicate their lives to confronting social injustice and racism while defending human rights.

Dedicated to revitalizing poetry, Split This Rock celebrates poetry that provokes social change through a remarkable array of educational, literary and activist programs including their biennial festival. Since its founding in the late 1960’s, The LAYC has empowered youth through innovative programs. dedicated to a future where all youth can pursue their dreams.
