Green Festival busboys and poets

The Washington, D.C. Green Festival Expo Launch Party took place at Busboys and Poets on Thursday, May 6, 2015. Special thanks to Andy Shallal, Owner of Busboys and Poets. Reggie 1Guests included local small business owners, environmental advocates and community members who all share the important commitment to making Washington, D.C. more sustainable. Those attending enjoyed an array of delicious vegan hors d’oeuvres provided by Green Festival’s D.C. Launch Party Sponsor Busboys and Poets. Also sponsoring the Launch Party was Buchi, using fair trade organic teas, fruits, spices and medicinal herbs. The D.C. launch party received wonderful green items from Buddha Pants, True Liberty Bags, Capital Bikeshare, Kiroja and Buchi Kombucha which were included in the gift bags that provided a taste of what was to come at the Green Festival Expo on June 5, 6, & 7th at the D.C. Convention Center. Busboys and Poets was the perfect spot for the Washington, D.C. Launch Party and we encourage everyone to come out, bring your friends and have a great time at the expo!

Green Festival Expo is back in Washington, D.C. at the D.C. Convention Center and endorsed by the Governor of Virginia, Terence R. McAuliffe. We are proud to announce that our expo will be operating on clean energy through our partnership with Arcadia Power, ensuring the event is as ‘green’ and sustainable as possible. D.C. Green Festival Expo will also be partnering with Sustainafest, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate and engage people of all ages to take action in their everyday lives, and goDCgo, your #1 resource for transportation information & options to make getting into and around the District easier than ever.

Those in attendance at this year’s Launch Party included Dr. Corinna Basler, President of Green Festivals, Karen Baker, Green Festival’s Regional Director, John A. Stokes – Director of Communications at D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation, Velu Ochoa – Program Manager of Audubon, Dave Marius – Vice President of Kiroja, and Green America Executives including President and CEO Alisa Gravitz and Division Director Denise Hamler. In the inspirational speech by Corinna Basler she talked about the purpose of Green Festival Expo and its importance to mainstreaming sustainable choices in our everyday lives. Consumers have an opportunity to join the sustainable movement, and Green Festival Expo provides the tools they need to move forward. She highlighted that we still have a long way to go, but through empowerment and innovation we can keep striving for a better future.
