Meeting N.Y. Nathiri of Eatonville
Posted March 26th, 2009 by Andy S
Our main destination is Eatonville – the hometown of Zora Neale Hurston.  N.Y. Nathiri - the director of the Zora Neale Hurston museum and the matriarch of the town met us for lunch at her favorite upscale restaurant – the Boheme located in the hotel Grand Bohemian. It’s situated in a very posh part of town with in the heart of Orlando surrounded by a large man made pond and well manicured medians. Â
i had the fortune of chatting with her on the phone yesterday.  She had heard about the restaurant and was anxious to make the connection with Washington DC. She was very excited about getting together and chose the restaurant for lunch. .  ”you will know me when you see me, I cover” - she wears a hijab and carries her Zora bag with confidence and a purpose.  Her burlap Zora bag was full of goodies - brochures and maps of Eatonville announcing arts festivals and other events that are zora or Eatonville related.
